Former Big Brother Naija contestant Maryanne Ahneeka Iwuchukwu has criticized Season 7 winner Phyna for publicly calling out the show’s organizers over unpaid prizes. Phyna had previously expressed her frustration, tearfully accusing BBNaija organizers of not paying her the 1BTC owed by one of the sponsors, now valued at over N100 million.
In response, Ahneeka expressed her disapproval of Phyna’s approach, suggesting that it was not “a wise idea.” During an appearance on the ‘Terms & Conditions’ podcast, Ahneeka argued that Phyna and other past winners should not feel entitled to their prizes to such an extent.

Ahneeka elaborated, “The thing about Phyna is, the thing that happens when you come out of Biggie’s house and suddenly, from 200 followers, you have millions of people, you think you are invincible. It happens to everybody. It takes thoughts and management to continue hustling.”
She acknowledged that if the organizers genuinely owed Phyna money, there could be a legitimate issue, but she advised against using social media to address it. “If truly the organizers are owing Phyna money and that could be a possibility, it’s still a job at the end of the day. She needed to have found an inner counsel. Maybe she has done that and tried to have a civil discussion and it didn’t work out, I don’t know.”
Ahneeka concluded by emphasizing that public shaming was not the right approach: “But if she thinks the best way is to blackmail them on social media, I don’t think it is wise. She could have easily not emerged as the winner. She could have easily been the runner-up. And people saying she deserves the money, listen to me, nobody deserves that money.”
