Nigerian Army troops nabbed four suspected kidnappers and informants in separate raids in the Federal Capital Territory and Oyo State.

This was known according to a statement from the Nigerian Army on its official X handle (formerly Twitter), the troops conducted a raid on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at a suspected kidnappers’ hideout in Ajegunle Mpape, Bwari Area Council of the FCT, targeting a well-known informant who shelters kidnappers.

During the operation, the troops apprehended a suspected informant called Ashiru Mohammed along with two female accomplices, Raham Abubakar and Sadiya Mohammed. The statement mentioned that the suspects were discovered with a Beretta pistol, a pistol magazine, and 21 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

The soldiers also found five ATM cards from various banks, two cell phones, and suspected illegal drugs in the possession of the suspects.

In a similar event, soldiers, based on a tip-off about a kidnapping group operating in the vicinity of Sepeteri in the Shaki general area of Oyo State, conducted a stop-and-search operation along the Igboho-Igbeti Road in Igbeti local government area.

The soldiers caught a suspected kidnapper, known as Usman Mohammed Aliyu, with N400,000.00 in his possession.

According to the statement, after more investigations, Aliyu admitted to “participating in cattle rustling and kidnapping.”

The Army mentioned that after the investigations, the suspects will be transferred to the relevant prosecuting authorities.
