The APC Youth Frontier has issued advice to the Rivers State Assembly members whose seats were recently declared vacant, urging them to participate in fresh elections.

In a statement released on Thursday, the group criticized the lawmakers’ defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), labeling it as a betrayal of the trust and mandate bestowed upon them.

Comrade Ajani Martins, the national president, emphasized that these defectors, whom he referred to as political opportunists, do not align with the values of the APC. He condemned their actions as morally reprehensible, highlighting their lack of integrity and principles.

Martins reiterated that the ruling party does not condone such deceitful behavior, asserting that the constituents who voted for them deserve better representation.

“We have closely followed the political developments in Rivers State, particularly the actions of the assembly members.

“Our party strongly denounces the treacherous defection of the 25 Parliamentarians.

“This act of political opportunism represents a betrayal of the trust and mandate given to them by their party and the electorate.

“We disassociate ourselves from them and their self-serving motives, which have caused them to abandon the core principles and values of their party.

“It is evident that they lack dedication to any party’s ideals and have demonstrated a willingness to prioritize personal gain over the interests of their constituents.

“We will not condone such betrayal and will take all necessary measures to ensure accountability for those who have betrayed the public trust.

“We trust that our party will remain steadfast in upholding our principles and values, undeterred by the selfish motives of a minority.

“To our steadfast members and supporters, we urge you to remain resolute and committed to our party’s mission.

“We remain committed to upholding loyalty, dedication, and adherence to our party’s principles and values, which cannot be guaranteed by those who have abandoned their former party affiliations.

“Therefore, we advise the lawmakers to return to their roots and seek re-election. As it stands, they have forfeited their seats in the House. Our party does not condone unlawful conduct.”
