Dr. Alex Otti, the governor of Abia State, has strongly criticized the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for attempting to establish what he describes as a “shadow government” within an executive presidential framework.
In a statement released by his chief press secretary, Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, Otti reminded the PDP that it has lost its grip on power and should confront the reality of being rejected by the people of Abia after more than twenty years of mismanagement.
“The desperation of the beleaguered Abia PDP was recently evident when the party’s visible chairman, who was ‘elected’ to lead alongside other ‘elected’ state executives, engaged in an unrealistic exercise by appointing fictitious shadow commissioners, special advisers, senior special assistants, and various other positions under a yet-to-be-formed PDP State. Oddly enough, just days later, the Abia PDP State Chairman has yet to appoint a shadow Governor and Deputy Governor who would be receiving shadow allocations and generating phantom revenue,” he stated.
“Congratulations to my good friend, the shadow Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General, Sir Onyebuchi Emamanka. I hear they are still deliberating on how to allocate the shadow Governor and Deputy Governor roles.”
“It’s astonishing that these individuals remain oblivious to their electoral defeat. Following the Supreme Court ruling affirming my position as the duly elected Governor of Abia State, I even spotted John Okiyi Kalu heading to the Okija Shrine to contest the Apex Court’s verdict. Rumors suggest that the Ezemuo of Okija Shrine has overturned the Supreme Court’s ruling and instructed the Abia PDP to shift to a parliamentary system where a shadow government can operate under a presidential model.”
“Abians can now witness their audacity and desperation to cling to power despite being voted out. When can we expect shadow Local Government Mayors and their Deputies to be appointed? I’ve been informed that Sir Don Ubani is busy consulting and lobbying for a shadow permanent secretary role.”
“All these newly appointed officials will be inaugurated with shadow feeding bottles. They are welcome to remain in their shadow Abia. The real and tangible Abia has moved forward, leaving them behind.”
“They have become mere shadows of their former selves, devoid of access to the public treasury. The shadow appointees are welcome to loot and plunder their imagined treasury. No one is contesting this with them.”
