Dr. Alex Otti, the Governor of Abia State, has sanctioned an impressive N81.6 million as a Christmas bonus for the state’s 544 traditional rulers.
This announcement was made public by Uzor Nwachukwu, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
“His Excellency, Dr. Alex C. Otti, has kindly approved N150,000 for each of the 544 traditional rulers in Abia as a Christmas bonus,” Nwachukwu stated.
He also took this opportunity to encourage the traditional rulers to maintain their collaborative efforts with Governor Otti’s administration to foster development, peace, and security within their communities. The bonus is set to be disbursed on or before December 10, 2024.
Eze Linus Nto Mbah, the Chairman of the Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers, confirmed the governor’s initiative, calling it unprecedented.
Eze Mbah remarked, “This Christmas bonus reflects Governor Otti’s appreciation for and acknowledgment of the traditional institution in Abia State.”
