Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has expressed readiness to partner with the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) for improved power supply in the state.

The governor made this known when he received the new management team of NDPHC during a courtesy visit to his office at Government House, Uyo.

He noted that power remains a focal point in the development matrix, particularly in the actualization of the ARISE Agenda.

He added that the state has critical power infrastructure, such as the Ibom Power Plant, and is eager to work with a worthy partner to achieve its goals in power generation and distribution.

According to him, “We cannot say we have fully delivered on the ARISE Agenda of this administration if we don’t have power for our people.

“Power, of course, is a facilitator of all other things that you want to do.”

“We have been looking forward to areas where we can work together. That’s why we not only invited the Ministry of Power to be present but also brought the Managing Director of the Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation (AKICORP), who can sit with your team and review all the investment indices that we can leverage,” he said.

Addressing the MD/CEO of the company, Gov. Eno, who is a board member of NDPHC, said, “Power is literally everything, and it would be beneficial if you are ready to partner with us.

I believe that we have the assets, and we can collaborate on how to manage these assets so that everyone benefits. That’s why I welcome this visit,” he added.

Earlier, the MD/CEO of NDPHC, Engr. Jennifer Adighije, stated that they were in the state to explore new market opportunities to drive commercial activities that will propel NDPHC to greater heights.

She expressed NDPHC’s readiness to partner with Ibom Power Company Limited to meet the electricity needs of the people, eligible customers, and commercial and industrial clusters in the state.

She assured the governor that there was no need to look further for such a partnership, as NDPHC is a worthy partner to fulfill his vision of generating and distributing electricity across the state.

The NDPHC boss noted that the company has the largest generation capacity in the industry, enabling them to provide quality, reliable, and affordable electricity, guided by existing laws and regulations, in line with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda for accelerating collective prosperity through energy efficiency.

She applauded Governor Umo Eno for his commitment to advancing development in the state and expressed her company’s willingness to partner with the state to address its power needs.

On hand to receive the NDPHC executives were the Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi; Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah; and the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Power, Dr. Valerie Obot.

Others present were the Commissioner for Lands, Captain Iniobong Ekong; Commissioner for Works and Fire Service, Prof. Eno Ibanga; Commissioner for Internal Security and Waterways, Gen. Koko Essien (Rtd.); and the Chairman of Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation (AKICORP), Pastor Imoabasi Jacob.
