The Akwa Ibom State Health Insurance Agency has commenced enrolment of children under 5 alongside pregnant women, elderly persons above 60, physically challenged, migrants, and internally displaced persons in the State Health Insurance Scheme.
Permanent Secretary, State Health Insurance Agency, Hannah Nta announced this in a statement issued in Uyo said the exercise holds at the operational base of respective Local Government Areas between 8.00am and 4.00pm in Ikot Ekpene, Uyo, and Eket Local Government Areas on 13th to 15th August, 2024, while that of Oron Local Government Area holds 20th to 22nd August, 2024.
The statement directs participants to go with their National Identification Number (NIN), while arrangements have been made to register those without NIN.
For Uyo, the exercise is held at Primary Health Centre, Ikot Ebido Oku while in Eket, it is taking place at Polyclinic on Hospital Road.
According to the statement, “Akwa Ibom State Health Insurance Scheme will cater for the health needs of her people, abolish expensive out of pocket expenditure as it pertains to health, and bring about a universal health care coverage for citizens of the state.
It is proof of the Umo Eno administration’s commitment to realize Universal Health Coverage (UHC) for all Residents in Akwa Ibom State.”
