Tragedy struck in Ado-Odo earlier today May 31, 2024, when Ganiu, an air conditioner repair technician, was electrocuted while attempting to fix an air conditioning unit. The incident occurred at approximately 11:30 AM in a residential building on Olabisi Street.
Eyewitnesses reported that Ganiu, known for his expertise and reliability in the community, was working on the faulty air conditioner when he suddenly collapsed. “We saw a sparkling light and rushed to see what happened,” said Abayo, a neighbor. “We found Ganiu on the ground, unresponsive. It was a shocking sight.”
Emergency services were immediately contacted, and paramedics arrived at the scene within minutes. Despite their efforts to revive him, Ganiu was pronounced dead on arrival at the General Hospital.
The cause of the electrocution is still under investigation, but initial reports suggest a potential fault in the air conditioner’s wiring.
Ganiu, a well-respected technician, had been serving the Ado-Odo community for over a decade. His sudden death has left the neighborhood in mourning. “He was a kind and hardworking man,” said Mrs. Ebere, a long-time client. “It’s a great loss for all of us.”
