Aisha Yesufu, a well-known Nigerian rights advocate, has presented an ambitious vision for the future of Nigeria, detailing several significant policies she would implement if she were to assume the presidency.

In a recent message on X (formerly Twitter), Yesufu suggested the abolition of import duties on goods to enhance affordability for Nigerians and to position the nation as a vital economic center in Africa.

“If I were the President of Nigeria, I would advocate for the removal of import duties on all goods to ensure that products entering Nigeria are exceptionally affordable,” she stated.

Her vision aims to make Nigeria the preferred destination for inexpensive goods, appealing to both African nations and international markets.

Yesufu also emphasized the necessity of tackling Nigeria’s security issues and revitalizing its tourism industry.

She articulated that drawing visitors to Nigeria would not only invigorate trade but also enhance sectors like transportation and hospitality.

“Visitors looking to purchase goods will rely on transportation and accommodations,” she highlighted.

On the economic side, Yesufu underscored the importance of fostering a supportive environment for industries, advocating for better infrastructure and accessible capital to motivate businesses to establish manufacturing in Nigeria.

She expressed a strong desire to see major global companies such as Apple set up production facilities in Nigeria, taking advantage of the country’s skilled labor force and modern infrastructure.

Moreover, the activist stressed the critical role of education, calling for a shift from traditional certifications to equipping young Nigerians with essential skills for future employment.

“I will prioritize primary and secondary education that prepares students for 21st-century careers rather than focusing solely on obtaining certificates,” she concluded.
