Ajuri Ngelale, who has served as the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity for just over 16 months, has announced his decision to take an indefinite leave of absence.
On Saturday, Ngelale disclosed that he had informed the Chief of Staff to the President of his need to step away from his role due to pressing medical issues affecting his family.
Ngelale, who accompanied the President on a recent trip to China, explained that he must focus on addressing these medical concerns. He expressed hope that, if circumstances allow, he will return to his duties in the future.
In his statement, Ngelale, who also holds the positions of Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action and Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen, said: “On Friday, I submitted a memo to the Chief of Staff to the President notifying them of my indefinite leave of absence. This decision comes as I need to address urgent medical matters concerning my immediate family.
“Though I understand the importance of continuity in governance, this difficult choice was made after extensive discussions with my family, as the medical situation at home has deteriorated. I am committed to returning to my full responsibilities when time, recovery, and circumstances permit.
“I kindly request privacy for my family and me during this challenging period.”
