Waheed Ayilara, the Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom State, has sadly passed away. Ayilara, who had been struggling with health issues, died in the early hours of Thursday at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) in Ikeja.
Sources close to the family revealed that Ayilara had undergone surgery for prostate cancer the previous day. Tragically, he passed away just hours after the procedure.
A family member, speaking on condition of anonymity, expressed profound sorrow over the loss. “We are deeply saddened to inform you that our friend, brother, and family member, the Commissioner of Police for Akwa Ibom State, Waheed Ayilara, has passed away,” the source said, reflecting the family’s grief.
