The Akwa Ibom government is set to distribute 48,000 bags of rice to 2,272 gazette villages in the state.

This came as a result of the state government receiving 24,000 bags of rice from the Federal Government as Nigerians continue to moan over high cost of living from fuel subsidy removal.

This is coming as Governor Umo Eno announced doubled the donation with adding another 24,000 bags for more families to benefit.

A statement issued this evening by the Commissioner for Information, Comrade Ini Ememobong indicates that 20 bags will be shared to each of the 2,272 gazetted villages in the State.

According to the statement, distribution will be done at Local Government Council Headquarters where Chairmen will ensure that the rice are transported to all the villages. It says dates for the distribution will be announced soon.
