Students of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua took to their social media handles to celebrate one of their own Uduak Nanga better known as Mc Calculus after completing his World record attempt for the longest mathematics lesson by an individual.

Mc Calculus attempted a world record 150 hours of non-stop mathematics lessons, the longest by an individual, and completed same, saying he only took the challenge to because the platform to let people, especially the youths, know that mathematics is easy and fun.

Mc Calculus, a graduate of Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, who had before the Guinness World Record attempt partnered with international bodies including UNESCO to cultivate interest in mathematics among young students in the state, said his passion for mathematics was initiated by his mother, Mrs. Rose Edet.

Mc Calculus is a well-known activist in his days on campus and has been the students favourite in the past days after his successful attempt.

Emediong wrote on her Facebook page, “Where are university of Uyo students, where are Akwa Ibom State University students, where are university of Calabar students? Akwa Poly is the best.”

Rachel said “them say Akwa Poly no be better school, see what we produce.”

Mc Calculus said after the attempt “To me, it is a dream come true. Mathematics is passion to me and when I see people around the world dreading mathematics, sometimes feel bad and would ask myself how can I show to the world that mathematics is fun? So I thought of a platform to do that globally.

“That was why I went into the Guinness World Record attempt, so what I did is beyond the record. Just the platform that I needed to show the whole world that they should have passion for mathematics.
