An investigation conducted by an online news outlet has uncovered allegations that Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, is involved in a significant land-grabbing scheme, utilizing front companies to acquire properties across various locations in Abuja.
Documents obtained during the investigation suggest that Wike is not acting alone; he is reportedly linked with Kingsley Chinda, the Minority Leader in the House of Representatives, who is said to serve as a director in one of the implicated firms, Saravera Nigeria Limited.
The report claims that Wike and his associates have been utilizing companies such as Saravera and Aleed Construction Limited to unlawfully reclaim revoked lands, redistributing them to their associates. This alleged operation, involving figures like Adapoyi Akor, is said to systematically dispossess unsuspecting citizens of their properties, rendering them homeless.
This alarming revelation has prompted calls for an investigation by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), with numerous leaders urging President Bola Tinubu to take action. The Southern Leaders Council has called for immediate measures to hold both Wike and Chinda accountable for what they label as land racketeering and misuse of power. Additionally, there are increasing demands for the House of Representatives to suspend Chinda from his position.
Moreover, insiders within the FCT Administration have advocated for a thorough audit of all revoked lands, particularly those allegedly reassigned under Wike’s instructions.
“This documentation reveals how Wike revokes the lands of innocent individuals, such as the late Colonel Ogbebor, and reallocates them to himself using front companies managed by his confidant, Kingsley Chinda, in violation of the Code of Conduct law,” a source stated, as reported by Sahara Reporters.
Another company implicated in the land-grabbing allegations is Garden City Mall in Port-Harcourt, which is said to have connections to Wike.
“Nigerians are closely observing how the DSS and President Tinubu will address this troubling FCT land scam, which could either confirm or refute claims from Wike’s camp that the president is complicit in these dealings and that his associates are beneficiaries,” another source indicated in the report.
