The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has called on church members and the public to submit any relevant evidence in support of its investigation into allegations of homosexuality against two of its leaders.
Pastor Ayorinde AdeBello and Deacon Oke Mayowa were reportedly suspended from their positions following accusations of homosexual misconduct involving young members of the church. To ensure a transparent investigation, the church has tasked the Special Assistant to the General Overseer on Administration with overseeing the inquiry, aiming to conclude within two weeks.
In a statement titled “RCCG Addresses Allegations Against Youth Ministers,” signed by RCCG’s National Overseer, Pastor Sunday Akande, the church urged individuals with pertinent information to come forward.
“We encourage anyone with pertinent evidence that could assist our investigation to come forward,” Akande said, adding, “Please note that only substantiated evidence directly related to this case will be considered; other submissions will not be reviewed.”
To streamline the process, RCCG has provided a dedicated email address, [email protected], and a contact number, 09039000700, for submitting evidence. “Your cooperation will reinforce our commitment to justice and ensure a thorough resolution,” Akande emphasized.
Pastor Akande explained that, as a precaution, both leaders have been placed on indefinite suspension and removed from all ministerial duties pending the outcome of the investigation. “As a precautionary measure, the Youth Ministers have been placed on indefinite suspension and removed from all ministerial duties until we can fully address these allegations,” he noted.
Reaffirming RCCG’s commitment to its core values, Akande highlighted that the church is founded on principles of holiness and transparency. “We are dedicated to transparency and will not tolerate any actions that contradict our core values nor cover up wrongful conduct,” he said.
The church concluded the statement with a plea for assistance: “We appreciate any assistance in this matter and ask that individuals or groups with tangible evidence provide the necessary details.”
