The emerging International Volunteer and budding Global Public Servant, Mr. Aniekpeno Mkpanang, was on the night of Saturday, August 10, 2024, in Nashville, Tennessee, honoured with a Distinguished Service Award by the US-based, Akwa Ibom State Association of Nigeria (AKISAN).
In the citation for the Award, which was presented to Mr. Mkpanang at the 37th Convention of AKISAN in the Music City, the body stated that Mr. Mkpanang was considered for the Award because of his invaluable impact and inspirational service to AKISAN during his 16-year stint, both as the State Director of Protocol and as Permanent Secretary, Protocol, from 2007 to 2023.
An official announcement of the Award, by Mr. Itoro Akpan-Iquot, the out-going National President of AKISAN, stated that Mr. Mkpanang’s Award was special, and in recognition of his “exceptional dedication, outstanding performance, and unwavering commitment” to AKISAN.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Aniekpeno Mkpanang lauded the headship of AKISAN for the unprecedented recognition, adding that all he did was to give unstintingly of himself in the bold bid to add value to the Association, in the course of the diligent discharge of his official Protocol duties.
AKISAN, an umbrella organisation of Akwa Ibom indigenes, living and working in the USA, was founded in the year 1987.
Mr. Mkpanang has since proceeded to other parts of the United States in the current season of his International Volunteer mission.
