Ismael Ahmed, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano state, has asserted that the ruling party and President Bola Tinubu could have faced significant defeat in the 2023 presidential election if former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party (LP) candidate Peter Obi had collaborated.

In an interview, Ahmed expressed his concerns regarding the possibility of a coalition between Atiku and Obi as they strategize for the upcoming 2027 election.

When asked if he was worried about a potential alliance, Ahmed confirmed his apprehension, stating, “God forbid that the two opposition leaders join forces in 2027.”

The APC chieftain emphasized that he takes any potential threats seriously, cautioning that the ruling party might struggle in the 2027 election if Atiku and Obi were to unite. He remarked, “Yes, it does. I never trivialize potential threats in politics. If you consider the combined votes of Atiku and Obi in 2023, it is clear we could have easily lost the election if they had worked together. God forbid that they come together.”
