The Abia State chapter of the All Progressive Congress has condemned the recent killing of five Army personnel of the Nigerian army in the state.
In a statement signed by the state chairperson of the party Dr. Kingsley Ononogbu, he however expressed his sadness in the massacre.
“While we join the Nigerian Army and families of the deceased personnel in mourning their death, we pray to the Almighty God to grant their souls eternal rest.
“We’re also in full support of the security agencies to do the needful by apprehending and prosecuting the attackers accordingly to serve as a deterrent to others,” the party said.
The statement also urged the security agencies to be thorough and diligent in their investigations to avoid arresting and prosecuting innocent persons.
“We, therefore, appeal for the cooperation and total support of the people to the security agencies to root out the criminals. With the presence of criminals, the society is unsafe,” the statement added.
