The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has declared its intent to vigilantly oversee the allocation and usage of the N3 billion recently allocated by the Federal Government to tackle flood-related issues in the region.

During a press briefing in Kano on Sunday, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, the party’s chairman, assured reporters that the APC would advocate for transparency in the management of these funds.

Highlighting worries over the alleged misappropriation of 130 trucks of food supplies intended for the state, Abbas criticized the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) administration for hindering the Federal Government’s initiatives to combat hunger.

He charged that President Bola Tinubu had authorized various relief measures for impoverished families and at-risk individuals, but those responsible for distributing these aids were reportedly misusing the resources.

Abbas pointed to claims involving high-ranking NNPP officials in the alleged misallocation of relief materials, including a specific accusation against Dr. Tukur Dayyabu Minjibir, the Managing Director of the State Agricultural Supply Company (KASCO), who was purportedly caught selling government-owned grains.

The APC chairman underscored the party’s commitment to preventing a recurrence of such incidents, ensuring that the allocated funds serve their rightful purpose.

He also mentioned that the Federal Government has established a committee, headed by Deputy Senate President Barau Jibril, to monitor the fair distribution of relief materials across the state.
