Abdulahi Umar, a prominent figure within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State, has raised concerns regarding the complete dominance of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in securing all chairmanship and council positions within the state.

Umar contended that the chairpersons representing the PDP are merely governing their party members and are not legitimately elected representatives of the entire populace, as outlined by the Electoral Act.

“We are biding our time until the general elections in 2027 to challenge the PDP’s hold on power through the ballot box,” he asserted.

He pointed out that despite the APC’s absence in last Saturday’s local government elections, the party still garnered a notable number of votes across all local government areas within the state.

Umar attributed the APC’s shortcomings in the 2023 general elections to internal divisions and emphasized the need for these issues to be addressed before the next election cycle in 2027.

“We have gained valuable insights from our past experiences, and we are committed to preventing such errors from occurring again. The APC enjoys popular support in the state, while the PDP has merely stumbled upon power by luck,” he stated.

He further noted that the party’s leadership is closely monitoring the situation in Zamfara and strategizing for the upcoming 2027 elections.

“We are fully prepared to reclaim power from the PDP in the state, regardless of the current turmoil within the APC. I assure you that all internal issues will be resolved well ahead of the election,” Umar concluded.
