Former leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State have expressed concerns regarding the party’s declining fortunes within the state.
During a meeting held in Yola on Sunday, APC stakeholders called for reconciliation efforts to help revitalize the party, warning that without significant changes, their chances in the 2027 elections would be bleak, especially after unsuccessful attempts to secure the governorship in both 2019 and 2023.
The Concerned APC Members, led by former state deputy chairman Saidu Naira, highlighted that discontent among members has led to a growing number of individuals leaving the party, making urgent reconciliation essential.
“If the party continues to neglect its members, it’s crucial for our leaders to reach out and unify the party into a strong front,” Naira stated during the gathering.
He criticized the lack of genuine reconciliation efforts following the 2023 elections, noting, “Many members feel abandoned by the APC, and some are actively seeking to join other parties.”
Naira further alleged that the party has been taken over by a few influential individuals at the state level and called on President Bola Tinubu and APC national chairman Umar Ganduje to take decisive action to rescue the party.
He specifically urged the national chairman to establish a committee tasked with addressing the issues in Adamawa and empowering the local members to guide the party forward.
