The North Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum has issued a warning to the North West APC, cautioning them against passing a vote of confidence in the embattled National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje.
The forum highlighted that multiple votes of no confidence have already been passed against Ganduje, starting from his ward in Kano and extending to other protests, litigations, and agitations.
They argue that his continued tenure will only set the APC back and cause further division within the party.
Speaking to journalists in Jos, Plateau State’s capital, after last Sunday’s APC North West stakeholders’ meeting in Kaduna, the forum’s Chairman, Alhaji Saleh Mandung Zazzaga, criticized the stakeholders’ commendation of the party’s leadership as being insensitive to the ongoing crisis.

Zazzaga, who was also a member of the Presidential Campaign Council in the last election, stated that Ganduje is surrounded by numerous issues and the best course of action for him would be to step down to avoid causing further harm or legal liabilities for the party.
He emphasized that the North Central APC has maintained a cooperative relationship with the North West APC and urged them not to jeopardize this relationship due to Ganduje’s issues. Furthermore, he stressed that, according to party arrangements, the National Chairman position Ganduje occupies is designated for the North Central region.
Thus, someone from Nasarawa State or the North Central region should replace the former National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, not Ganduje from the North West.
Zazzaga elaborated that the North Central region has been actively working to reclaim the seat and will persist until their goal is achieved.
“We caution the North West APC against any move to back Ganduje simply because he is from the North West. Besides the crisis surrounding Ganduje that threatens to split the party, the position he holds rightfully belongs to the North Central.
We urge our North West counterparts to support our efforts to reclaim it,” he stated.
He pointed out that the North West already holds significant positions such as the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Deputy Senate President.
The National Chairmanship position, according to party agreements, should be held by someone from the North Central region, which played a crucial role in the success of President Bola Tinubu in the last election and the overall performance of the APC in various elections.
Highlighting the North Central’s achievements, Zazzaga noted, “Notably, the North Central region won five out of six states for the APC: Benue, Kogi, Niger, Nasarawa, and Kwara.
Therefore, we deserve the leadership position of the party and will oppose any region attempting to usurp it from us.”
He called on President Tinubu to intervene and restore the privileges of the North Central region. He also urged the people of the North Central, regardless of political, professional, ethno-religious affiliations, to unite in the effort to remove Ganduje and ensure that the rightful person from their region occupies the seat.
Additionally, Zazzaga revealed that the hearing of the suit filed against Ganduje by the North Central APC Forum is scheduled for May 30th, and he appealed to the people of the region and stakeholders to support the forum, particularly with prayers, to achieve victory.
