Concerned APC Rivers lawmakers, APC political elites
The Alerted Members of the All Progressives Congress (AMAPC) have issued a stern warning to the ruling party regarding Hon. Martins Amaewhule and his 26 colleagues in the Rivers State Assembly, who have recently denounced the party.
These lawmakers, who previously publicly declared their defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC in December, are now disassociating themselves from the party when their positions are being threatened. The AMAPC finds this behaviour unacceptable. In a statement released by the group’s President, Comrade Ezegwu Thomas, they described Amaewhule and the others as political opportunists who have no loyalty to any political organization.
The AMAPC raised concerns that if these lawmakers can easily denounce their membership with the APC, they might do the same to President Bola Tinubu, and therefore, they advised the party members to handle them with caution. The statement reads: “We feel compelled to address an urgent matter that poses a threat to the unity of our esteemed party. “Recent events have led us to issue a note of caution and vigilance to all loyal members of our party.
“As you may be aware, some members of the Rivers State House of Assembly publicly defected from the PDP to our party. However, they have now disowned any affiliation with us, which forces us to categorize them as political opportunists without loyalty to any political organization.
“We view this development with great concern and warn our members to exercise caution when dealing with these individuals. “Their history reveals a pattern of political opportunism, and we fear that their presence within our party ranks could jeopardize our unity and progress.
“We caution our members that these individuals, who have no qualms about denying their party affiliation, may do the same to our party and even our esteemed President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu when it suits their interests. We must not let our guard down and allow such fair-weather politicians to infiltrate our party.
“We must remain vigilant and ensure that our party continues to be a haven for true progressivism, not a breeding ground for political chameleons. “We urge our members to exercise caution in their interactions with these individuals and prioritize the interests of our party above all else. Let us stay united and focused on our mission to build a better Nigeria for all.”
