With the Edo State Governorship Election set to take place on Saturday, September 21, 2024, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has voiced serious concerns about a counterfeit court ruling circulating on the internet, which falsely claims to disqualify their candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo.
In a statement issued by Felix Morka, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, the APC denounced the ruling as a malicious fabrication designed to mislead voters and create chaos during the election.
Morka reassured the electorate that Senator Okpebholo is still the party’s rightful candidate and urged law enforcement agencies to investigate those responsible for this forgery.
He stated, “This deceptive news intended to instill doubt regarding the APC candidate is a clear and calculated effort to undermine the will of the Edo voters and must be firmly rejected by the wise and discerning populace of Edo State.”
“This unlawful and underhanded tactic employed by certain parties represents a shameful attack on our democratic process. We call upon law enforcement to quickly identify, investigate, and bring the culprits to justice.”
Morka encouraged voters in Edo State to stay alert and steadfast in exercising their democratic rights during the upcoming polls. He expressed confidence that the people of Edo would not fall for this or any other underhanded schemes by desperate candidates and their parties aimed at undermining this critical election.
“Senator Monday Okpebholo is, and will continue to be, the APC’s candidate in tomorrow’s Edo State Gubernatorial Election,” he affirmed.
