A coalition known as APC Stakeholders for Fairness and Justice has called on Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule to intervene and prevent what they describe as an “imminent implosion and total collapse” of the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement released to the press in Lafia, signed by chairman Mohammed Bala and secretary Shehu Usman, the group accused the party’s chairman, Dr. Aliyu Bello, of compromising the party’s values and principles due to his close ties with Senator Ahmed Wadada, who represents the Nasarawa West Senatorial District.
The group referenced an interview in which Dr. Bello reportedly stated, “Nothing can come between him and his bosom friend, Senator Ahmed Wadada,” as evidence of his bias, which they believe could undermine the party’s unity and integrity, especially with upcoming ward and state congresses.
They cautioned that Dr. Bello’s perceived favoritism could jeopardize the party’s efforts, asserting, “If Aliyu Bello is allowed to steer our party forward, he will prioritize his friend’s interests over others, which would be harmful to the APC. The party may become a vehicle for the ambitions of one individual, marginalizing others.”
The stakeholders also expressed concern that if Senator Wadada were to run for office under a different political party, Dr. Bello’s split loyalties could weaken the APC’s prospects in future elections.
Additionally, they warned that sidelining loyal party members could incite internal dissent, further destabilizing the party’s framework.
The group remains hopeful that Governor Sule’s involvement could restore faith among party members and bolster the APC’s standing in Nasarawa State.
In contrast, APC spokesperson Chief Douglas Otaru responded by dismissing the group as “faceless” and stated that the party would not dignify their claims with a response.
