The Austin Agada-led faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State has announced its nominees for the upcoming local government elections, scheduled for October 5th. The party has put forward 23 chairmanship candidates and 276 councillorship candidates across the 23 local government areas of the state.
The selection process took place on Saturday, August 24, 2024, with primary elections conducted at various ward headquarters. According to a statement released by the Agada faction on Monday, the primaries were largely determined through consensus and affirmations in most areas.
Commenting on the primaries, Hon. Samuel Atsuku, a participant from Tarka Local Government, praised the stakeholders’ commitment, which he credited for the success of the exercise.
Atsuku expressed gratitude to the party faithful for their peaceful conduct during the process and congratulated the chairmanship candidate for Tarka, Hon. Koryave Isaac Aondaver, along with the councillorship nominees.
In Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, Hon. Simon Aluor noted the party’s demonstration of orderliness and peace throughout the primaries, while in Gboko, Hon. Basil Yina emerged as the flag bearer without any disruptions.

Similarly, in Otukpo, party members turned out in large numbers to affirm their support for the preferred chairmanship candidate, Oleho Augustine, during a peaceful exercise.
The APC Party Chairman of Guma Local Government, Hon. Lazarus Asema, lauded the state’s leadership for their effective organization of the primaries. Other notable figures, including Hon. Abua Yaji and Hon. Fidelis Audu, also expressed their satisfaction with the process and commended the local government stakeholders for ensuring a smooth and successful primary election.
