The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the official timetable for the 2024 Rivers State Elective Congresses, scheduled to begin on November 2.

This was disclosed in a statement issued in Abuja on Friday by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Malam Suleiman Argungu.

The APC had earlier appointed a caretaker committee, led by Chief Tony Okocha, to oversee the process of electing new leadership for the Rivers State chapter following the dissolution of the Beke-led executives.

Although a recent court judgment reinstated the dissolved executives, the APC’s National Working Committee has maintained its stance, refusing to recognise the court’s decision and affirming the authority of the caretaker committee, citing the court’s lack of jurisdiction over party matters.

In the statement, the APC also outlined the nomination fees for aspirants. Those vying for the state chairmanship position are required to purchase the Nomination and Expression of Interest forms for N3 million, while vice-chairmanship aspirants will pay N2.5 million. For local government chairmanship positions, the form is priced at N100,000.

Additionally, female aspirants and Persons Living with Disabilities (PLWD) will enjoy a 50% discount on the nomination form. Youths between the ages of 25 and 40 are also entitled to the same discount.

The statement further clarified that only financial members, who have paid their membership dues for at least three months before the delegate congress, will be eligible to vote.

The sale of Nomination and Expression of Interest forms will commence at the APC national headquarters in Abuja. According to the timetable, the screening and appeal committee will be constituted on October 18, and the deadline for the submission of completed forms is October 21.

The Rivers State Congress to elect members of the state executive council is scheduled for November 9.
