On Monday, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State welcomed a notable addition to its ranks as Governor Biodun Oyebanji officially received Engr. Kemi Elebute-Halle, the former female governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) from the 2022 elections.

During a vibrant event filled with enthusiasm, Governor Oyebanji assured Elebute-Halle and her supporters that their political futures are secure within the APC. This gathering marked the formal transition of Elebute-Halle and hundreds of her followers from the ADP to the ruling party.

Elebute-Halle was the ADP candidate in the June 18, 2022 governorship election, which was ultimately won by Governor Oyebanji.

Represented by Deputy Governor Chief (Mrs.) Monisade Afuye, Oyebanji characterized the APC as the most democratic party in Nigeria, emphasizing its commitment to enhancing welfare programs for the populace.

Reassuring the new members, Oyebanji stated that under his leadership, no one would face discrimination or have their rights compromised as members of the party.

He attributed the growing numbers in the APC to the people-centric governance and initiatives his administration has implemented to alleviate the hardships faced by citizens since he took office.

Expressing his congratulations to Mrs. Elebute-Halle and her supporters, he highlighted the party’s dedication to inclusivity and the benefits of democracy extended to its members and the wider community.

“Rest assured, Governor Oyebanji and the party leadership are committed to providing you with ample opportunities to achieve your aspirations within the APC. Our party is inclusive and prioritizes the interests of all Nigerians above narrow agendas,” he affirmed.

“The APC stands as the most democratic party in Nigeria, recognizing women and youth as vital participants in the decision-making processes,” he added.

Encouraging unity among party members, Oyebanji urged confidence in the APC leadership and emphasized the importance of collaboration to achieve shared goals.

Reflecting on the achievements of his administration, he noted, “In this short time, the governor has tackled the six pillars of his administration, bringing significant progress and development as promised upon assuming leadership.”
