The ongoing turmoil within the Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has escalated, yet the Austin Agada-led executive has made significant strides by nominating 23 candidates for chairmanship and 276 for councillorship ahead of the local government elections set for October 5.
A press release from the APC state chairman’s media office, shared with reporters in Abuja yesterday, revealed that the primary elections were primarily conducted through consensus and affirmation across various local councils and wards.
The nominations took place across all ward headquarters in the state’s 23 local government areas last Saturday.
Samuel Atsuku, a participant in the primary elections in Tarka Local Government, credited the success of the process to the dedication of the party’s stakeholders within the area. He expressed gratitude towards the party members for maintaining a peaceful and orderly environment during the elections.
Atsuku extended congratulations to Koryave Isaac Aondaver, the selected chairmanship candidate for Tarka Local Government, as well as to all the councillors who emerged from the nomination process.
In Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, Simon Aluor, another participant in the primaries, noted that the APC set a commendable example of civility and harmony. He thanked the party members for their continued trust in the organization.
In Gboko, the primary elections concluded without incident, with Basil Yina being named the party’s candidate for the forthcoming local government election.
In Otukpo, party supporters rallied together, affirming their support for Oleho Augustine as their chairmanship candidate, demonstrating strong backing through a unified vote.
Following the primaries, Lazarus Asema, the party chairman in Guma Local Government, praised the peaceful nature of the process and commended the APC leadership in the state for their effective management and organization.
In various media interactions, Abua Yaji and Fidelis Audu expressed their contentment with the electoral process, commending local stakeholders for their roles in ensuring the success of the primary elections.
