Gbogi Emmanuel, a notable figure within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, has officially parted ways with the party. On Saturday, Emmanuel submitted his resignation letter, voicing his dissatisfaction with the leadership of President Bola Tinubu and the party’s governance.

Emmanuel didn’t hold back in his critique, labelling the APC as a “weapon of poverty” and condemning its role in worsening the economic plight of Nigerians. He articulated that the party has contributed to the increasing difficulties citizens face, highlighting the stark economic challenges that have become all too familiar.

“Ultimately, the APC has transformed into a tool of poverty and suffering for the people, made evident by the relentless economic struggles across the nation,” Emmanuel stated in his resignation letter.

Addressed to the Chairman of Ward 6 in Akoko South West Local Government, Emmanuel elaborated that the ruling party has strayed from the core values of democracy, neglecting loyalty and fairness among its members. He emphasized that his departure was not a hasty decision but a conclusion reached after thoughtful discussions with his family and political peers in Akoko land.

“My choice to leave the APC is rooted in its failure to honour the foundational principles of democracy, which include fairness, equity, acknowledgement of loyalty, and delivering the benefits of democracy to the citizens,” he explained.

Emmanuel criticized the party’s new strategy of “robbing Peter to pay Paul” and described the primary election that led to the selection of Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the current governor and APC’s gubernatorial candidate, as “poorly executed and lacking integrity.”

This resignation marks a notable shift in the political landscape of Ondo State, as Emmanuel takes a stand against what he perceives as the party’s shortcomings in addressing the needs and struggles of the populace.
