The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has alleged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has withdrawn from the upcoming local government elections in Anambra State to escape an anticipated loss.

Chinedu Obigwe, the National Coordinator of the APGA Media Forum, stated that the APC’s withdrawal reflects a lack of confidence in securing victory.

In a statement released on Tuesday, he remarked, “Anambra APC is running away from their already foreseen defeat. Since Basil Ejidike took over as Anambra APC Chairman, they have never won any election in Anambra.”

Obigwe also referenced a 2017 incident in which APC members admitted to former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo that the party lacks a presence in Anambra State.

He accused Chairman Basil Ejidike of trying to mask the party’s shortcomings by stepping back from the election.

Furthermore, he praised the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) for its commitment to conducting the election, confirming that it will take place as planned on September 28th.
