Saviour, who was in his final year at Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, had a tragic ending when he was shot and killed by some suspected armed robbers. It all happened around 8 pm on Saturday near his old place in Ikot Uboh, which is in the Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area. Saviour was a hardworking student in the Electrical Electronics Department, and his unexpected death brought a wave of sadness to the whole community.
According to witnesses, Saviour was heading home when he ran into the armed robbers. They demanded his cell phone, but instead of giving in, Saviour showed some courage and tried to hold onto his device. Things got ugly when a struggle broke out between him and the robbers, and in the chaos, shots were fired, which unfortunately ended up being fatal for Saviour. Some reports also say that Saviour attempted to call for help, which might have provoked the robbers to shoot.
This violent incident has shaken up people living in the area, leaving everyone scared and fearful. Ikot Uboh used to be a pretty safe place, but this brutal crime has changed things completely. Now people are worried about their safety, and the atmosphere is filled with grief and unease. “We used to feel safe walking around here, even at night,” one resident sadly mentioned. “But now, everyone is scared, and the streets are deserted after dark.”
The tragic death of Saviour has brought attention to the increasing crime rates in the area. His fellow students and teachers at Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic are heartbroken over losing such a promising student who has a brilliant future ahead of him. “Saviour wasn’t just a student; he was a friend and a role model to many of us,” one of his classmates shared. “His death is a huge loss for all of us.”
In response to this terrible incident, the police have intensified their efforts to catch the culprits. The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Timfon John, spoke to the media and assured that the police force is doing everything possible to bring the perpetrators to justice. “We won’t rest until the culprits are held accountable. CP Waheed Ayilara is determined to wipe out criminal activity in Akwa Ibom State. We’re committed to this cause,” she firmly stated.
ASP John also mentioned that the police have increased their patrols in the area and are working closely with the local community to gather any information that could lead to the arrest of the robbers. “We’re urging anyone with information about this incident to come forward. Our community’s safety is our number one priority,” she added.
This tragic event has sparked local leaders and activists to call for better security infrastructure and community policing initiatives. Many believe that having a more visible and engaged police presence could deter criminals and prevent future tragedies. “We need more than just empty promises; we need action,” emphasized a community leader. “Our young people shouldn’t have to live in fear, and our streets should be safe for everyone.”
In addition to the police efforts, local groups are organizing vigils and memorials to honor Saviour.
