The residents of the Oloke area in Ogun State were left in shock and fear after an armed robbery incident that occurred in the early hours of June 7, 2024.
According to eyewitnesses, a group of armed robbers raided an apartment, causing significant distress and loss for the inhabitants.
The incident happened around 2:30 AM when most residents were asleep. The robbers, reportedly numbering five and armed with guns and machetes, forcefully gained entry into the apartment.
Neighbors recounted hearing loud bangs and cries for help, which alerted them to the ongoing robbery.
One of the victims, narrated the harrowing experience, stating, “They broke down the door and threatened us with guns. They took all the cash we had, mobile phones, and other valuables. It was a terrifying experience for my family.”
Despite the smart actions of the robbers, the local vigilante group responded promptly but was unable to apprehend the criminals as they fled the scene.
The incident has sparked concern among the residents, who are now calling for increased security measures in the area. Community leader, Pa Olaogun, emphasized the need for enhanced police presence and collaboration with local vigilantes to prevent future occurrences.
