The army will continue to respond to all security threats in accordance with laid-down constitutional provisions and the procedures in our book,” he stated. “Our soldiers will act in line with our code of conduct and rules of engagement. For all threats to security, the army will respond appropriately.”
In his remarks, Lt. Gen. Lagbaja also highlighted the “reduced security activity” in the South-South region, commending the army’s efforts in maintaining peace and stability there. He praised the personnel for their diligence and effectiveness in ensuring a tranquil environment, which has significantly contributed to the region’s overall security.
During his visit to the 6 Division Headquarters, Lt. Gen. Lagbaja was warmly received by Major General Jamal Abdusallam, the General Officer Commanding the 6 Division and Land Component Commander of Joint Task Force South-South Operation Delta Safe.

The Chief of Army Staff’s statements come at a time when the Nigerian Army is facing various security challenges across different regions of the country. The emphasis on adhering to constitutional provisions and the military code of conduct highlights the army’s dedication to maintaining law and order while respecting human rights and ethical standards. This approach is intended to foster trust and cooperation between the military and the civilian population, which is essential for effective security management.
The commissioning of new projects at the 6 Division Headquarters is part of the army’s broader strategy to improve the living and working conditions of its personnel.
