In the wake of the recent Edo State gubernatorial election, Asue Ighodalo, the candidate from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has expressed that his ambitions were never centered around gaining power, but rather stemmed from a sincere commitment to serve the people of Edo.

In a message of gratitude delivered in Benin on Monday, Ighodalo articulated his vision of fostering prosperity for all citizens in the state.

“My beloved Edo people, in every circumstance, we must first express our gratitude to God,” he began.

“We are thankful for our health, our lives, and the overwhelming support and love you have shown us throughout this journey.”

Ighodalo extended his sincere thanks to all who rallied behind the campaign, emphasizing that their steadfast dedication propelled them forward.

“I especially want to acknowledge the courageous citizens of Edo State who, despite facing rain, threats, and intimidation, exercised their right to vote on September 21, 2024. Your determination is the cornerstone of our democracy.”

“You are the true champions of this moment, and your bravery will forever be etched in our memories. Your sacrifices are laying the groundwork for a brighter future for Edo, one founded on principles of integrity and justice.”

“My ambition has never been driven by the thirst for power; it has always been about a genuine wish to serve and bring prosperity to every individual in Edo State, regardless of age or gender.”

“I made it a point to visit every ward and local government area, sharing my hopeful vision and listening to your aspirations. Your voices have reinforced my commitment to advocate for a better tomorrow.”

“To our loyal supporters, I am deeply grateful for your faith in this cause. Your efforts, discussions, and votes have taken us further than we could have imagined.”

“We ran an extraordinary campaign together, and your backing was unmistakable. Unfortunately, our advancement was abruptly thwarted by those indifferent to the welfare and future of Edo.”

“September 21, 2024, will stand out as a somber day in our history. The audacious theft of our mandate and the muffling of your voices represent a significant injustice.”

“However, we must not lose hope. The fleeting triumph of malevolence cannot erase the truth. Our journey towards prosperity is just beginning, not concluding.”

“Let us remain united, proactive, and resolute. You stood with me during this campaign, and as we face uncertain times ahead, I assure you that I will remain by your side.”

“Together, we will forge a path towards shared prosperity for every resident of Edo State,” he concluded.
