The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has placed its members nationwide on high alert as the 15-day ultimatum given to the Federal Government and its agencies is set to expire this Friday.

During a press briefing at Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic, Ijebu-Igbo, on Monday, ASUP Zone C Coordinator, Comrade Mosopa Adekunle Nurudeen, confirmed the development. He stated that ASUP’s National Executive Council would soon hold a meeting, in line with labor laws, to determine the union’s next steps.

Nurudeen expressed deep concern over the government’s continued disregard for the welfare of polytechnic staff, labeling the government’s stance on polytechnic education as “worrisome.” He further criticized the failure to implement the resolutions from a tripartite meeting between the National Board of Technical Education, ASUP, and the Federal Ministry of Education.

The union has made it clear that any inaction by the government would prompt a response, signaling potential industrial action. More updates to follow as the situation develops.
