Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has categorically distanced himself from a fraudulent operation that falsely claims to provide N65,000 to Nigerians, labeling it a scam.

In an official statement issued by his media aide, Paul Ibe, Atiku revealed that a group calling itself “Travelling Abroad Opportunities” has been disseminating misleading information online regarding an alleged “Atiku Grant by the Federal Government.”

The fraudulent scheme reportedly instructs prospective applicants to complete a form that requires personal information, including their names, bank account details, and financial data, in exchange for the promised sum of N65,000.

Atiku made it clear that he is not associated with any empowerment initiative that offers such financial assistance. He stressed that neither he nor any organization linked to him is operating a program of this nature.

“The purported Atiku Grant by the Federal Government is a scam designed to exploit unsuspecting Nigerians and deprive them of their hard-earned money,” he stated.

“This serves as a warning to Nigerians to refrain from engaging with what is evidently a deceptive scheme that aims to mislead innocent citizens into believing it is sanctioned by Atiku Abubakar.”

Furthermore, he urged law enforcement agencies to investigate the matter.

“We call upon security agencies to scrutinize the individuals behind this criminal operation, along with numerous other schemes intended to defraud innocent citizens, and to hold them accountable,” he concluded.
