Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election, has called on the Federal Government to seek a political resolution regarding the ongoing detention of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Atiku made this plea while expressing his concern over the killing of soldiers in Aba, Abia State during the sit-at-home exercise that took place on Thursday.
In a media statement, Atiku expressed his condolences to the families and friends of those who lost their lives and condemned the violence that occurred.
He also highlighted the negative impact of the sit-at-home order on the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) exams being conducted in the Southeast region.
Atiku emphasized the need to distinguish between criminal elements and legitimate agitators, urging for transparency in identifying those responsible for the violence.
He suggested that, alongside ongoing legal processes, it is time to explore a political resolution to address the issues surrounding Nnamdi Kanu and related matters.
Atiku believes that such a resolution could help alleviate the tense situation in the region, leading to a mutually beneficial outcome for all parties involved.
