Former vice-president and Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has expressed his views on the current administration.

Atiku noted that President Bola Tinubu inherited a nation grappling with severe economic, political, and security issues.

In an interview on Arise Television’s News Day, Atiku underscored that while the president has made commendable strides, it is crucial to allow him more time to address the multitude of problems left by the previous administration.

Atiku elaborated: “The President, in my opinion, has done well. This is because he met a country in disarray, economically, politically, and security-wise. But he has been able to put things in proper perspective, even though we expect him to do some more. The magnitude of the issues he inherited cannot be underestimated, and addressing them requires a strategic and patient approach. But in my opinion, the President is on track because he has shown so far that he is a listening President with so many actions he has taken so far.

Abubakar continued by praising Tinubu’s approach: “His policies are well conceived but in the implementation, there are some things that should have been done differently. Implementation of such broad and impactful policies is never without its challenges. However, the good thing is that the President is listening, and anything that needs to be corrected will be corrected because he has shown capacity in leadership so far. His responsiveness to feedback and willingness to make necessary adjustments are promising signs for the future.”

Reflecting on the broader implications, Abubakar noted: “The complexities of our national issues require a leader who is adaptable and considerate of diverse perspectives. President Tinubu has demonstrated an ability to listen and respond to the needs and concerns of the populace. This quality is crucial in navigating the multifaceted problems we face and in steering the country towards stability and growth.”

Abubakar’s comments come at a time when many are scrutinizing the new administration’s efforts to stabilize and improve Nigeria’s socio-economic landscape. He emphasized the importance of patience and continued support for the president as he works to implement his vision for the nation. “We must give him the space and time necessary to execute his plans effectively. The road to recovery is long, but with a president who listens and acts on feedback, there is hope for significant improvement.”

In conclusion, Abubakar reiterated his belief in the president’s capabilities and called on Nigerians to support the administration’s efforts. “Leadership is not just about making the right decisions; it’s also about being willing to correct course when needed. President Tinubu has shown that he possesses this quality. As citizens, our role is to provide constructive feedback and support the positive initiatives aimed at national development.
