9mobile recently made a significant leadership change by appointing Ayodeji Adedeji as the new Chief Technical and Information Officer (CTIO). This decision by the Board of Directors of Emerging Markets Telecommunication Services Limited, which operates under the brand name 9mobile, aligns with the company’s ongoing efforts to revamp its business strategies and enhance its network services for customers.
Ayodeji Adedeji brings with him a wealth of experience, having spent over 25 years in the telecommunications industry. His expertise covers a wide range of areas, including network operations, architecture, service management, and planning. With a strong background in 4G, 5G, and IP technologies, Adedeji has a deep understanding of both the technical and operational aspects of the industry.
He has worked in various regions, such as Europe, the Caribbean, the USA, and Africa, and most recently served as the General Manager for Network Services at Airtel Nigeria. In that role, he led a team of over 100 people and was responsible for the core operations of both circuit-switched and packet-switched networks, as well as other vital network functions.
The CEO of 9mobile, Obafemi Banigbe, expressed his excitement about Adedeji’s appointment, noting that it represents a key moment in 9mobile’s journey toward technical innovation. He has been instrumental in driving technological advancements and achieving ISO 23001 certification for business continuity management. Known for his passion for innovation and new technologies, Adedeji is committed to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the telecommunications field.
In his new role at 9mobile, Adedeji will be responsible for providing strategic direction to the Technical and IT teams. Adedeji’s educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, with a specialization in Digital Telecommunications, from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. He has also completed extensive training in Project Management, Service Excellence, Network Technologies, Disaster Recovery, and AWS Cloud. Additionally, he holds a Mini MBA from Tekedia Institute, further underscoring his commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
