Bandits have abducted two lecturers from the Federal University Dutsin-Ma in Katsina State, plunging the community into turmoil. Among the victims are Prof. Richard Kyaram and Dr. Hamza, both respected members of the academic faculty.

The abduction occurred in the early hours of Monday, June 3, 2024, within the GRA Dutsin-Ma area. Shockingly, Prof. Kyaram’s son, Solomon, a 200-level student at the university, was also taken captive alongside his father. The bandits, wielding sophisticated weapons, stormed the community, instilling fear as they unleashed gunfire indiscriminately.

Confirming the distressing incident, Abubakar Sadiq, the spokesperson for the Katsina State Police Command, acknowledged the gravity of the situation. He assured the public that law enforcement agencies are mobilizing all available resources to secure the safe release of the abducted victims.

“On June 3, 2024, at approximately 1:04 a.m., armed assailants, armed with AK-47 rifles, raided the GRA quarters in Dutsinma LGA, Katsina State, where they abducted two university staff members and a student from the Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA),” stated the PPRO.

“The Command, in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders, is intensifying efforts to ensure the safe rescue of the kidnapped victims and the apprehension of those responsible for this cowardly act,” he affirmed.
