Gavi tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and injured his internal meniscus while playing for Spain in a Euro 2024 qualifying game against Georgia on November 19, 2023.
Gavi returned to the team on October 20, 2024, coming on as a substitute in the 5-1 win over Sevilla in LaLiga.
Gavi received a standing ovation from the crowd at the Lluis Company’s Olympic Stadium.
Gavi approached Florentino Pérez after yesterday’s match and said to him, “I wanted to thank you for the message you sent me when I was injured.”
