Bala Mohammed, the Governor of Bauchi State, has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of being the root cause of the discord within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He made these claims on Thursday while hosting a delegation from the PDP Board of Trustees, headed by Senator Adolphus Wabara, at the Bauchi Government House.
As the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Mohammed alleged that the APC has embedded informants within the PDP to monitor their activities.
He pointed to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and a member of the PDP serving under the APC, expressing his astonishment at this unusual predicament.
Emphasizing unity, he stated that the current challenges can be surmounted, and with divine assistance, solutions will be found.
“It is the PDP, with its governance experience, that is facing these hurdles. You can observe that this turmoil is orchestrated by the other side (APC). They aim to sow discord among us,” Mohammed remarked.
He expressed confidence in the PDP’s ability to navigate its issues, asserting that the APC lacks capable individuals to match the talent within the PDP, highlighting the party’s potential to effectively govern Nigeria.
Senator Wabara, representing the visiting delegation, clarified that their mission was to address the party’s internal conflicts, particularly those affecting Rivers State and the need for a new National Chairman. He emphasized that the Board comprises dedicated members who genuinely care about the party’s future.
Wabara reassured that the PDP possesses the capability to revitalize Nigeria, despite ongoing challenges, acknowledging dissatisfaction with the party’s current situation and recognizing that the public is likely discontent as well. He committed to resolving issues within the PDP and preventing any division of ideas or perspectives.
