The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended Aminu Mohammed, 30, from Magaji Quarters in Bauchi metropolis.For the past two years, he has been impersonating a Nigerian Army officer, violating sections 110(1) and 251 of the Criminal Code.

Mohammed was arrested by officers from the Tafawa Balewa Housing Estate Divisional Police Headquarters (C) Division on July 22, 2024, following a complaint. He allegedly collected N210,000.00 from an unsuspecting individual, promising to help secure a job with the Nigerian Army.

The suspect further deceived his victim by directing him to meet an accomplice (currently at large) to facilitate his entry into the military training school in Zaria. After spending eight days in Zaria, the victim could not locate the person who was supposed to assist him.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Mohammed had never served in the military. He had obtained a pair of camouflage trousers from a friend who is a serving military personnel.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Mohammed, has ordered a thorough investigation into the case by the State Criminal Investigation Department. This directive aims to uncover more facts to aid in Mohammed’s prosecution, as stated by SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, Police Public Relations Officer.
