Manchester United second choice goalkeeper Alter Bayindir showed his quality as 10-man Manchester United side dumped Arsenal from the FA Cup third round.

United travelled to the Emirates for the clash with coach Rubén Amorim making huge two changes with first choice goalkeeper André Onana being dropped for Turkish international Bayindir.

But the shot-stopper repaired the faith his manager had in him with a show of masterclass.

After several shows of goalkeeping artistry, Bayindir saved captain Martin Odegaard’s 73rd minute penalty to keep the score at 1-1 after Diego Dalot was sent off in the 62nd minute.

Captain Bruno Fernandes has given his side the lead in the 52nd minute following a fine setup ball from Alejandro Gernacho who started ahead of Amad Diallo.

In the 63rd minute after United had been reduced to 10 men, Brazilian centre-back Gabriel benefitted from a half-clearance to equalise for the host.

It was then a game for Bayindir to stake his claim in the United set-up in an all-important game, making six outstanding saves including a spot kick from Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard.

The game went to shootout after both sides couldn’t produce a second despite several attempts with both Kai Harvertz and Joshua Zirkzee missing crucial chances.

Odegaard, Partey and Declan Rice all scored for the Gunners as Kai Harvertz forced Bayindir to make a second penalty save of the evening.

On the other side, captain Bruno Fernandes, Amad Diallo, Lizandro Martinez, Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee all scored their spot kicks to make it a 5-3 scoreline to help United book a fourth round clash against Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s Leicester City.
