The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, stated this during the Ministerial Sectoral Briefing which is part of activities marking the first year anniversary of President Bola Tinubu’s government.
Bear with the government on the recent tariff increment , it is a temporary hardship that will eventual gain for all as is witnessed in the telecom sector some years back.”

The Federal Government has set an ambitious goal to generate 6,000 megawatts of electricity by December 2024 to enhance power supply in Nigeria.
This initiative is part of a broader strategy aimed at fostering national development by ensuring adequate and reliable power supply.
Additionally, the recent decentralization and liberalization of the power sector, as outlined in the 2023 Electricity Act, have paved the way for states like Enugu, Ondo, and Ekiti to actively participate in the electricity value chain.
The government aims to diversify the energy sector by introducing renewable sources, such as solar power, alongside hydro and gas power, as part of an energy transition plan.
Furthermore, efforts are underway to address the issue of estimated billing by bridging the meter gap, with plans to provide 10 million prepaid meters over the next five years.
