Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are reportedly moving forward with their divorce after months of split rumors. According to the Daily Mail, the 51-year-old actor and the 55-year-old superstar singer have decided to end their marriage following a failed attempt at reconciliation.
Sources have claimed that the couple’s divorce documents are finalized but have not yet been submitted. This news comes shortly after Affleck purchased a new $20.5 million mansion in the Pacific Palisades on July 24, coinciding with Lopez’s 55th birthday. Friends of Lopez described Affleck’s purchase of a “bachelor pad” on her birthday as a “stab to the heart.”
Just days before this, the couple had listed their Beverly Hills mansion for $68 million, and Lopez finalized the sale of her four-bedroom New York City penthouse for $23 million, as reported by People.
An insider revealed, “They finalized the divorce papers with her a month ago, but are waiting for the right time to drop them. At that time, they will release a joint statement that will say how they have much love for each other and how they fought to make it work, but couldn’t.”
Another source added, “Honestly, in the end, they could not come to a compromise. What they had before is gone and they have both accepted it.”
The couple was last seen together on March 30. Since then, they have spent the summer apart, with Jennifer on the East Coast and Ben in Los Angeles. They even spent their second wedding anniversary on July 16 in different cities.
Rumors of marital issues began circulating in May when it was reported that Ben had moved into a $100,000 rental, and the couple planned to sell their “dream home.” Affleck’s new home is just a short drive from his ex-wife Jennifer Garner’s Brentwood house. The former couple, married from 2005 to 2018, shares three children: Violet, 18, Fin, 15, and Samuel, 12.
