Benjamin Omale, the chairman of the caretaker committee for the Benue chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC), has announced that the committee has made substantial strides in fostering peace and unity within the party.
Mr. Omale emphasized that party leaders are actively collaborating to ensure optimal harmony and cohesion among members. He clarified that the primary goal of the committee is to facilitate reconciliation.
He expressed confidence that by the end of their six-month tenure, the party would emerge as a unified front. Omale also praised APC supporters for their steadfast backing during the recent local government elections, in which the party secured all available seats.
Additionally, he acknowledged the role of journalists in maintaining a professional relationship with the party, noting that their fair reporting significantly contributed to the APC’s electoral success, reflecting the outstanding leadership of Governor Hyacinth Alia.
“Thanks to Governor Alia’s visionary guidance, the state is witnessing remarkable advancements in various sectors, including job creation, infrastructure, education, healthcare, security, and timely salary and pension disbursements, as well as enhancements in digital technology,” he remarked.
As he encouraged a collaborative relationship with the media, Omale stressed the importance of journalistic integrity, urging reporters to prioritize accuracy and clarity in their reporting. “Inaccurate or rushed information can lead to misunderstandings and damage to reputations,” he cautioned. He urged media professionals to distinguish between facts and opinions and to rely on trained reporters to ensure the dissemination of accurate information.
Omale also called on the community to leverage the media’s influence in fostering peace, addressing youth unrest, and promoting development initiatives.
Meanwhile, the caretaker secretary of the state, Bem Angwe, revealed that the formation of the committee was a direct response from President Bola Tinubu and the national party leadership aimed at resolving ongoing conflicts in the state. He reiterated the committee’s clear mandate to unite party members and manage its affairs over the next six months, reaffirming their dedication to instilling discipline within the party.
Angwe concluded by highlighting the president’s commitment to the people of Benue through the appointment of local individuals to significant positions.
