Tragedy struck at Bright Academy School in Anambra State when a student, Henry Chukwuemeka Okonkwo, was reportedly beaten into a coma by his teacher over an alleged theft.
The incident, which occurred this morning, May 28, 2024, has led to the death of the young boy and sparked outrage within the community.
According to witnesses, the incident began when Henry was accused of stealing a bun from one of his classmates. The teacher, whose identity has not been disclosed, confronted Henry and allegedly resorted to physical punishment.
The severity of the beating rendered Henry unconscious, and he was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The news of Henry’s death has led to swift actions by the authorities. The Anambra State government has ordered the immediate closure of Bright Academy and initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
