Both Manchester United and Manchester City will be able to play against their sister cubs in next season’s UEFA competitions The Times and Sunday Times have confirmed.
Manchester United were in a state of dilemma when French side OGC Nice finished in a Europa League place.
The law was that two teams with similar ownership cannot take part in the same UEFA competition to avoid compromise.
Manchester City were faced in the same situation when Girona also earned themselves a UEFA Champions League spot.
Both Manchester City and Girona share the same ownership as Manchester United whose the INEOS own a major share in the football club.
However, they can now compete in both the UEFA Champions League for both Manchester City and Girona as Man United will play in the UEFA Europa League with Nice.
